PRIVACY POLICY OF THE WEBSITE AND OF THE (linked) MAPPING APP (SARDEGNA-Sentieri-app, downloadable from the iOS and Android app stores)
(information on the processing of data and the responsible parties)
a) This website
This website is intended to promote the territories of Sardinia by displaying an "online catalogue" of (public) geographical data relating to hiking routes.
Therefore, no personal data of any kind are directly managed or collected.
THIRD-PARTY COMPONENTS (SOCIAL MEDIA, VIDEOS, MAPS) - This website, especially in the descriptive pages of each trail (Trail-type articles: http://www.sardegnasentieri.it/sentieri ) uses components that may generate a call to third-party applications (access to the user's Facebook account) to enable those who so wish to comment on the content published. Under no circumstances does SardegnaSentieri store the login data for that account, which are managed directly by the provider of the social network's authentication service (Facebook).
COOKIES - In relation to websites, a cookie is a small set of data sent by the web server to the user's browser and stored by the browser on the user's device (computer, tablet, mobile phone, or others), which can be read or subsequently retrieved by the server itself. Cookies allow the website to store certain useful information within a session or during the user's subsequent visits to the website.
USE OF COOKIES - On the websites of the Regione Autonoma della Sardegna cookies are used to improve the user experience and to provide services and functionalities to users. You can limit or disable the use of cookies through your web browser. However, in this case some functionalities of the website may become inaccessible.
WHY WE USE COOKIES - For several reasons: in some parts of the website cookies are essential (without them it would not be possible, for example, to browse the content offered correctly). In other parts they are used to obtain information useful for providing specific services; moreover, some external services (also known as "third-party" services) may need to install specific cookies on the user's browser in order to provide the related services (social sharing buttons, maps, etc...).
WHAT TYPES OF COOKIES ARE USED ON OUR WEBSITE?
1) Technical cookies: these are cookies used for the sole purpose of "carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or insofar as this is strictly necessary for the provider of a service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide that service" (see Article 122, paragraph 1, of the Privacy Code). They are not used for further purposes and are normally installed directly by the owner or operator of the website. They can be divided into:
2) Browsing or session cookies: used to record data useful for normal browsing and use of the website on the user's computer (allowing, for example, the preferred page size in a list to be remembered). These cookies can then be distinguished on the basis of their persistence on the user's computer: those that are automatically deleted at the end of each browsing session are called session cookies. If, on the other hand, they have a longer lifespan, they are referred to as persistent cookies.
3) Functional cookies: these allow the website to remember the choices made by the user in order to optimise functionality. For example, functional cookies allow the website to remember a user's specific settings (such as the country selected and, if set, the permanent login status without further prior authentication).
4) Third-party cookies: some functionalities are implemented using so-called third-party services (listed below). These services generate cookies that are linked to the services provided by a third party (for example the provider of a "social" platform) which provides these services in exchange for information on the user's visit to our website. It follows that third-party cookie providers are also required to comply with the relevant legislation. For this reason, please refer to the links to the web pages of the third-party websites, where the user will find the cookie consent forms and the related privacy notices provided by the operators concerned. Where the services are provided through indirect contacts with the third parties, the user should consult the websites of the parties acting as intermediaries between this website and those third parties.
OTHER SERVICES OR COMPONENTS SIMILAR TO COOKIES
Analytics - used to optimise the information and services offered, the websites of the regional system use Google Analytics, a Google service that makes it possible to track and analyse the online behaviour of users with regard to timing, geographical location and behaviour on the website. Privacy Policy: http://www.google.it/intl/it/policies/privacy/
Google: Youtube and Google Maps - in some cases, videos are displayed through the service offered by Youtube, and in some cases the maps shown to users are created using the functionalities offered by the Google Maps service. Google Privacy Policy: https://www.google.it/intl/it/policies/privacy/
Open Street Map - In addition to Google maps, some services make use of Open Street Map maps. Privacy Policy: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy
HOW CAN COOKIES BE DISABLED OR REMOVED? - Most browsers accept cookies automatically, but you can set your browser so that they are not accepted, either automatically or upon request. We advise against disabling them, as normal browsing may be impaired and some or all of the functionalities of some websites may not be available. If you do not want your computer to receive and store cookies, you can change the security settings of your browser.
Below are the addresses of the pages of the producers of the most widely used browsers.
b) The Sardegna Sentieri mapping app and the "interactive map" section of this website
The interactive map of the SardegnaSENTIERI website, like the webapp and the mapping app SardegnaSENTIERI app (available free of charge and downloadable from the iOS and Android stores for mobile devices), is designed for use on smartphones and tablets (above all the former) in order to make consultation of the cycling, hiking and equestrian Network of Sardinia convenient and pleasant, and to make all the regional data on the R.E.S. itself "available in various formats".
The app does not collect, manage or store on remote servers any sensitive data or GPS location data of users. For the sole purpose of offering a geolocated map view, while the app is running on a mobile device (if equipped with GPS enabled, and within the limits due to the quality of the GPS available on the device) the app uses the data made available by the operating system (Android/iOS), but it does so "locally" (that is, carrying out the processing on the device without storing it or transmitting it outside the device). The producer of the app (Webmapp s.r.l. of Pisa) has been appointed as data processor by the Agenzia Forestas, and has made technical declarations regarding the absence of any data acquired via the web during the operation of the app. The location is not even stored/retained on the device once the map view has been closed and the "show me on the trail" function has been disabled). Therefore, location processing can be handled entirely on the personal device and involves neither the processing nor the retention of geographical data, let alone personal data.
c) The form-mail for collecting reports
The form for collecting reports on the trail, available on this website, is a simple "form-mail" component designed to offer users the possibility of sending a text and an image, together with optional photos and spatial coordinates (in the classic GPS format, longitude x,xxxx and latitude y,yyyyy) to help the Regional monitoring system of the Trail Network. In this case too, it is not necessary to provide one's name or email address, but this may be done optionally (in particular, the email address will be used only to inform the user, where applicable, of the measures taken or to contact them and ask for further explanations, after which it will not be retained on the system or used for other purposes). In the form for reporting problems on the trail, it is not mandatory to provide any personal data.
GENERAL NOTES
In any other case, the Agenzia Regionale Fo.Re.S.T.A.S. guarantees that no processing will be carried out of any personal data that may be received by email or through electronic forms, and their use for the purpose of communications (the only use envisaged) complies with the provisions of the privacy legislation in force. In particular, the data will not be kept on any server, nor disclosed to third parties, and they will be used exclusively for communications relating to the website and its content and for the possible sending of information on topics relating to the content of the website or of the report.
Personal data will be processed exclusively for the performance of the activities referred to in Article 24 of the Privacy Code, for which the consent of the data subject is not required. The rights of the data subject are those expressly set out in Article 7 of the Privacy Code and may be exercised by means of a request addressed without formalities, including by registered letter or email (Article 9 of Legislative Decree No. 196 of 30 June 2003), to the data controller or to the data processor.
The data controller is the Agenzia Regionale Fo.Re.S.T.A.S., with registered office at viale Merello, 86 – 09123 Cagliari. The data processors are the Heads of the organisational units competent for the subject matter, whom the data subject may contact to request information relating exclusively to their own personal data (for further details, please consult the website SardegnaForeste.it - Privacy section).
